•Based on these resources (and others), challenge your assumptions. Look for any exceptions to your three assumptions that can you find that might challenge or problematize your initial assumptions.
•Restate the three topics you originally made assumptions about, in a more balanced way, providing specifics, as required.
1-I think that the blackbelt region is a very poor region that has a lot of crime.
ReplyDeleteI think in some ways this may still be true, but it really depends on where you're going (specifically). The blackbelt region is a very historical place with a lot of old architecture. They are still trying to preserve the ruins from their past while still modernizing (there's a certain charm about the place). The blackbelt region is about as southern as you can get and we are bound to be greeted with lots of southern hospitality.
2-I don't think there's much of an art scene.
There are many artist in the blackbelt region. Unfortunately, there just hasn't been that much documentation or light shined on these artist that live out there.
3-Montgomery is a pretty cool place.
I think the reading backs up this statement, I still believe Montgomery is a pretty cool place to visit (I've always wanted to go). I do love old buildings and learning a lot about history and I think this trip will broaden my horizon.
